Goodwill hot streak

Don't you love when you get on a thrift store or Goodwill hot streak? It seems lately I have been getting lucky. At least for things I like! I am sensing a collection I am starting here and didn't even realize it! I love Madonna statues in white and these 2 I found at different places. One is a planter that I put a little ivy in and the other a flower vase. I just think they are so sweet and lovely.
I have no idea why these pics are turned and no idea how to turn them once they are loaded. But I got these books for a quarter a piece and the vintage pictures are so cute.

This is a newer publication of old advertising and magazine pictures about pets. It is hard back and so sweet. 25 cents!

Aren't these triplets the sweetest? They are taking care of their sick little brother I think. This book was actually published in 1950. It's in great shape. I love vintage children's books.

Here's the cover. Flicka, Ricka and Dicka. Wow on those names lol. I am sorry about the pictures. I am still learning to navigate this blog and fix things that I am obviously not getting right! It's been a good week and I am slowly finishing up the bedroom makeover and have lots more thrifty finds this week too that I will be showing! I can't figure out how to upload more pictures per post? It's probably something really easy but if any of you veteran bloggers could let me know I would be grateful! Have a great day!

Some new vintage finds and makeover next week

I got this at the thrift store for 68 cents! It's metal and in really great shape. I thought it would look cute displayed for Christmas. It looks all campy and homey. It's doesn't take much to make me happy.

I told you I'm obsessed with silver plate. This set is cloudy? I am just getting into silverplate and I am not sure what this is? I have a Williams Rogers set that I got really tarnished and it cleaned up fine. But this set is not stamped and a lot lighter so probably a cheaper version but still silverplate. I scrubbed some of the cloudiness with baking soda and water and it seemed like it came off but it took a lot of elbow grease. The set only cost me $7.00 so I figured I could work on it. Next week I am planning a makeover of my oldest child's room. She is going to the beach for spring break with a friend and their family. While she is gone I am redoing her room. How lucky is she to be lying on the beach while I clean and paint? Anyway, I will be showing before and after how that is going next week. Have a great day!

Shipping anxiety

I love vintage finds! But I also have 7 kids, 2 cats, 1 dog, fish and 2 turtles. So when I start to accumulate I usually sell some things. I shop ebay, etsy, and online but I haven't really sold on there because I have shipping anxiety. What is that you ask? I freak out trying to figure how to get boxes, weigh stuff, find the price, etc. etc. Luckily, I have a selling email group here locally that is very active and I do a lot buying and selling on there. But I would love any advice on how to get the shipping thing down to a science. Isn't this scale the cutest? I have it listed on my selling group with the next items.

I don't think I will make a million dollars selling stuff but it will help me to keep hunting those vintage items. I have sold some bows here locally too but not yet online. I have a etsy shop set up but nothing in it yet. Yep, shipping anxiety again. I couldn't resist these vintage nursery cardboard plaques last summer. I have them listed with the scale. Wouldn't they be adorable in a vintage nursery? Have a great weekend!!

I love vintage dishes

I love these vintage snack sets. I have collected the same pattern at thrift stores at different times and now have 12 plates and little cups. And I use them! The kids eat lunch or snacks on them and they are very thick glass and durable.

I haven't had any break yet (knock on wood) but if one gets broken, I won't freak too much since I only paid about 50 cents a set. Sorry about the bad pictures. I am not very good yet and my camera is not the best. We just got tax money so we are thinking about investing in a really good camera and I know we would get lots of use out of it with 7 kids doing a million activities a piece. (not to mention blogging!) Have a great day!

First post and cute finds!

Hello! I am Amy the mother of 7 and I love vintage. I found these cute pairs of woooden Dutch clogs while out treasure hunting and thought they were unique.

These are even stamped on the bottom made in Holland and I believe they are handpainted. The cute swirls are burned into the wood.

I am brand new to blogging and don't have the layout and picture thing down. So if it's hard to read and follow sorry about that! I am thinking about opening a etsy shop just for my vintage finds so they don't take over the house and I will let you know if that happens. I love to redo furniture and dabble in crafts so that might become a theme around here too. Hopefully I won't be too all over the place. Until next time!
